Over the weekend, the Gbenga Hashim Solidarity Movement (GHSM) initiated a significant campaign challenging President Bola Tinubu’s administration across the South West region.
This organization champions the 2027 presidential bid of Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, a former contender for the nation’s highest office.
During a meeting held in Osogbo, the capital of Osun State, representatives from all 31 Local Government Areas alongside party officials proclaimed that the era of APC’s dominance in Nigeria is nearing its conclusion.
In a statement released by his communications team, Olawepo-Hashim, through his chief of staff Mr. Kamaldeen Adebayo, criticized the current government‘s harsh leadership approach, which he said has inflicted severe hardship on the populace.
“Gbenga Hashim’s vision is to reinstate honor, fairness, and transparency in governance. Nigeria’s democracy cannot thrive amid rampant corruption and mediocrity.
The time has come to reclaim our nation,” Adebayo emphasized.
Abdulrazaq Hamzat, GHSM’s national coordinator, compared Olawepo-Hashim to a liberator for Nigeria’s challenging era.
“Our people have been cornered by relentless hunger, daily insecurity, and pervasive despair. Gbenga Hashim stands ready to guide us out of this crisis. He is untainted by corruption, brimming with innovative ideas, experienced in international best practices, and courageous enough to dismantle APC’s hold on power,” Hamzat asserted.
Alhaji Abass Olaniyi, the South West coordinator, directly attributed the region’s woes to the Tinubu administration.
“This government has failed its mandate, serving only a select few while the majority suffer in poverty. From Osun, this movement will ignite a powerful wave across the South West. The people yearn for integrity, principles, and visionary leadership, and Gbenga Hashim embodies these qualities,” Olaniyi stated firmly.
With growing support in Lagos, Oyo, Ekiti, and Ondo states, GHSM welcomed the PDP’s announcement to open its 2027 presidential candidacy, affirming that Hashim now has a clear path to Aso Rock, by divine favor.
Hon. Tajudeen Hassan, Osun State coordinator, urged local and ward leaders to intensify grassroots mobilization.
“Spread Gbenga Hashim’s message to every street, every home, and every community in Osun. No one should be overlooked. This is a movement of the people, and 2027 marks our pivotal moment,” Hassan declared.
Political analysts caution that if this momentum continues, the South West-traditionally an APC bastion-could become the focal point of President Tinubu’s political unraveling. With soaring inflation, rising unemployment, and escalating insecurity, the Osun launch is widely regarded as the first organized resistance against Tinubu’s control in the region.
One speaker at the event captured the mood succinctly: “The beginning of Tinubu’s decline starts here in the South West. Osun has ignited the spark, and the coming storm is unstoppable.”
