Nigerian rapper Odumodublvck has courageously shared his personal battle with illegal drug addiction and the harrowing experience that nearly cost him his life.
He revealed that during his time as a student at the University of Lagos, he was involved in using illicit substances and suffered a near-fatal overdose. In the midst of this crisis, he reached out to his mother to arrange a flight back to Abuja for help.
Reflecting on the ordeal, the artist behind the hit track “Pity The Boy” recounted, “While I was excelling academically at the University of Lagos, I was also secretly using illegal drugs. One day, I overdosed and came close to dying. I called my mother to book a flight home to Abuja. After that terrifying moment, I only used drugs once more before deciding to quit completely.” This was shared during a recent episode of the Tea With Tay podcast.
Odumodublvck expressed deep gratitude for his recovery, acknowledging that not everyone who falls into drug addiction is fortunate enough to escape its grip.
He also issued a heartfelt warning to young people about the severe risks associated with drug abuse, urging them to avoid such destructive habits.
“I’m thankful because many who get involved with drugs don’t come out alive. Some lose their lives, others lose loved ones to addiction, and some even take their own lives due to overdose. I’ve witnessed heartbreaking cases, like a pregnant woman and her husband both struggling with addiction. It’s truly devastating,” he shared.
Odumodublvck’s near-death experience serves as a powerful reminder of the dangers of drug abuse and the importance of seeking help before it’s too late.
