I still treasure the screenshots from our very first chat-it’s amusing to think a random message from a stranger would lead to forever. Just as I was about to drift off to sleep, my phone lit up with a message from a polite stranger who simply asked, “How’s your day?” I replied, intrigued but cautious, and soon we were engrossed in conversation. The next day, I asked how he got my number, and he confessed it was thanks to one of those persistent relatives always asking about marriage. I wasn’t thrilled, especially with my upcoming vacation plans, but Collins was determined, and gradually, he won me over. One calm evening, while walking with my nieces in the neighborhood, a car pulled up beside us. I was focused on the kids and ignored it until I heard my name. I turned to see him smiling from the car window. That moment marked the beginning of our beautiful story.
We chatted for a while before parting ways that day. The following morning, I mentioned my three-month vacation, thinking that would be the end of our budding friendship.
