The inaugural GITEX NIGERIA event has successfully placed Nigeria’s digital economy on the global map, attracting a diverse array of international exhibitors and investors who confirmed robust engagement and immediate business prospects.
Taking place from September 1 to 4 in both Abuja and Lagos, GITEX NIGERIA was held under the esteemed patronage of H.E. Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The event was organised by KAOUN International, the global force behind GITEX events, with strong backing from the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), and the Lagos State Government.
Hon. Olatunbosun Alake, Lagos State Commissioner for Innovation, Science & Technology, remarked: “In just three days, GITEX NIGERIA has made a significant mark on our nation’s tech landscape. From startups seeking capital and visibility to global investors, to multinational organisations uncovering the immense potential within Nigeria’s digital sector, this event is set to become a cornerstone for the country’s digital transformation and a beacon of international cooperation.”
Global attendees praised the high-level interactions with key decision-makers and underscored Nigeria’s importance as a thriving market. Abdelaziz Saidu, Country Leader for Cisco Nigeria & Ghana, shared: “GITEX NIGERIA has exceeded expectations. The turnout was not only large but comprised influential figures, including the Lagos State Governor and the Minister, who were impressed by our AI and cybersecurity demonstrations. From the outset, we’ve generated promising leads, some already evolving into concrete opportunities, and engaged with entities such as the African Union. The GITEX brand has attracted the ideal mix of local, regional, and international stakeholders, making this first edition truly impactful.”

The event featured two main hubs in Lagos: the GITEX NIGERIA Tech Expo & Future Economy Conference at the Eko Hotel Convention Centre, alongside the GITEX NIGERIA Startup Festival at the Landmark Centre. These venues collectively offered a premier international platform for Nigerian startups, investors, and corporate leaders to network, forge partnerships, and explore the vast opportunities within the country’s digital economy.
Recognised as West Africa’s premier technology and startup exhibition, GITEX NIGERIA also hosted the region’s most globally diverse investor programme, facilitating strategic dialogues among startups, corporations, investors, and government officials to foster cross-border innovation and collaboration.
Esteemed global technology firms and organisations lent their support to the event, including AWS, the International Finance Corporation (IFC), IBM, Meta, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Kaspersky, Space42, Microsoft, and NVIDIA.
