Nigerian artist Akinmayokun Awodumila, widely recognized as Mr May D, has become a trending topic on social media following a controversial incident after his recent show in Lagos.
Mr May D shared the stage with street-pop sensation Small Doctor during the opening ceremony of the Huspuppi Cup in Lagos’ Oworoshoki district. Videos capturing May D performing before a street crowd quickly circulated online, igniting a wave of diverse opinions.
Adding fuel to the fire, Tufab, a close affiliate of Wizkid, posted a sarcastic tweet stating: “For May D mind he dey perform for 02 Arena. Sold Out.” Although the tweet was later removed, it had already sparked significant backlash.
In response, renowned DJ Neptune defended May D, condemning Tufab’s disparaging remarks about an artist striving to make an honest living. He tweeted, “Your fellow artist is grinding legitimately with his God-given talent, and this is how you respond? Not everything is meant to be glamorous. Today might be tough, but tomorrow can be brighter. SMH.”
Sigh! Your fellow man is hustling legally for his daily bread with his God-given talent, and this is what you have to say? Everything shouldn't be for cruise. E red today, no mean say e no go green tomorrow. SMH https://t.co/hBEn6yxDC1

Rapper Skales also joined the conversation, criticizing Tufab for his online trolling. He described Tufab as “an older man, likely nearing 40, who lacks a proper job yet spends his time insulting others as if he were in his twenties.”
