According to a statement released on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Shiisu Lawan Adam, the suspects-Kabiru Musa, Umar Ali, and Sabiu Bashir-were caught following a single-vehicle accident involving a stolen car.
SP Adam revealed that Kabiru Musa falsely claimed to be a Lance Corporal serving with the 102 Guard Brigade, but investigations confirmed he was impersonating a military officer.
Recovered from the suspects were the stolen vehicle, counterfeit identification cards, seven ATM cards, and two driver’s licenses.
“On September 8, 2025, at approximately 7:50 AM, officers from the Kafin Hausa Division intercepted three suspected car thieves after they crashed a stolen vehicle in Sabon Sara village, Kafin Hausa LGA,” the statement detailed.
“Although the suspects initially fled the scene, vigilant police personnel quickly apprehended them.”
All three suspects are natives of Kano State: Kabiru Musa, 35, from Rimin Kebe Quarters; Umar Ali, 25, from Haye Quarters; and Sabiu Bashir, 25, from Tokarawa village.
Prior to their capture, the police received a report from Hussaini Manager stating that his blue Volkswagen Golf saloon, registration number MGA 108 JG, was stolen on the evening of September 7, 2025, at Agura Motor Park in Kafin Hausa LGA.
Further inquiries revealed that Kabiru Musa, who claimed affiliation with the 102 Guard Brigade in Abuja and residence in Rimin Kebe Quarters, was an impostor. A thorough probe by the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Dutse confirmed his fraudulent identity.
During a search, officers found seven different ATM cards, two driver’s licenses, and other items linked to criminal activities in Kabiru’s possession.
Following the conclusion of discreet investigations, the suspects have been formally charged and are now facing prosecution in court.
The Commissioner of Police for Jigawa State, CP Dahiru Muhammad, psc, fdc, praised the Kafin Hausa Division officers for their dedication and professionalism that led to the arrests.
He reaffirmed the police command’s steadfast resolve to eliminate criminal elements and safeguard the lives and properties of residents throughout the state.
