The Imo State Police Command has announced that joint security forces successfully neutralized multiple IPOB/ESN militants and apprehended several suspects during coordinated operations in the Mbaitoli and Njaba local government areas of Imo State.

Okoye stated, “On September 17, 2025, the Commissioner of Police for Imo State, CP Aboki Danjuma, alongside senior military commanders and the Director of the Department of State Services (DSS) in Imo, conducted an on-site inspection of joint security teams. These teams, comprising personnel from the Police, Army, Air Force, Navy, and DSS, are actively engaged in targeted operations at Ezioha in Mbaitoli LGA, as well as Umuele, Ubuakpu, and Amakor in Njaba LGA.”
“During these operations, several terrorist hideouts linked to IPOB/ESN were dismantled. The security forces successfully neutralized numerous militants, while others were detained for further interrogation. Some insurgents fled the scene, sustaining gunshot wounds. Weapons and ammunition caches were seized from these camps. Additionally, the Joint Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit safely detonated improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and confiscated other incriminating materials,” he added.
The visit was intended to uplift the morale of the operatives, evaluate the progress of the mission, and reinforce the collective commitment of security agencies to restore peace and stability throughout Imo State.
Among those present were Brigadier General I. M. Abass, Commander of the 34 Artillery Brigade in Obinze; Air Commodore D. E. Bello, leader of the Nigerian Air Force 211 Quick Response Group (QRG); Commodore M. A. Abass, Commander of the Oguta Naval Base; and DSS Director DD Uche Dunkwu. They joined CP Danjuma in praising the operatives for their professionalism, discipline, and unwavering dedication in combating terrorism and violent crime.
In their individual statements, Brigadier General Abass, Air Commodore Bello, the Naval Commander, and the DSS Director pledged ongoing inter-agency cooperation and support for the security operations.
They encouraged the security personnel to remain vigilant, strictly follow engagement protocols, and stay resolute until lasting peace is firmly established in the region.
The Imo State Police Command, working closely with other security bodies, remains steadfast in its mission to eradicate criminal threats and maintain public safety. Citizens of Mbaitoli, Njaba, and the wider Imo State are reassured to continue their daily activities without apprehension, as order has been restored.
