The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has revised the deadline for the final assessment of underage candidates who participated in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
This change comes in response to delays from several universities in submitting their post-UTME screening results, which were initially expected by a set date.
JAMB noted that the National Examinations Council (NECO) released the 2025 Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE) results on Wednesday, September 17, 2025.
However, in a statement issued on Thursday, JAMB’s Public Relations Officer, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, revealed that by the September 15 deadline for uploading screening scores, 23 out of the 71 universities selected by candidates had yet to submit their results.
This delay has impacted 135 candidates, with the largest numbers coming from the University of Lagos (39), Nile University of Nigeria, Abuja (18), and Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka (15).
Other affected institutions include the University of Abuja (12), University of Uyo (9), Federal University of Technology, Owerri (8), David Umahi Federal University of Health Sciences, Uburu (6), and University of Calabar (6).
Additional universities on the list are Lagos State University (5), Bingham University (3), Federal University Lokoja (2), and Lead City University (2), along with several others each with one candidate affected.
Dr. Benjamin urged the defaulting universities through this announcement and direct emails to promptly upload their screening results, emphasizing that administrative delays should not compromise the futures of these students.
JAMB also reminded all institutions of the admission timelines established during the 2025 policy meeting. “Public universities are required to upload their recommended candidates onto the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) by Tuesday, September 30, 2025, while private universities must do so by Friday, October 31, 2025,” the statement clarified.
He underscored that these deadlines are firm and non-negotiable. “These dates were firmly set during the 2025 admissions policy meeting chaired by the Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa. JAMB will not accept any excuses for failure to comply,” he added.
The board highlighted that adhering to these schedules is essential to ensure a smooth and uninterrupted admission process for all candidates involved.
