Dupe and Ben share a love story that feels like destiny’s perfect composition. Their initial meeting six years ago was brief-a simple “hello” that soon led to Ben inviting Dupe to a casual game night.
What followed were several serendipitous meetings that hinted at a deeper connection quietly forming between them. Although they didn’t immediately pursue a relationship, Ben’s move to Lagos in 2020 ignited the spark that allowed their romance to flourish. Today, they celebrate their love, beautifully captured in their enchanting pre-wedding photos. Their chemistry is undeniable, and we eagerly anticipate the next chapter of their journey together.

Our First Encounter
Dupe shares:
Our paths first crossed at a social gathering in May 2019, where we exchanged a brief greeting. Shortly after, Ben invited me through a mutual friend to a game night the following weekend. Despite being in the same room, we barely spoke. It wasn’t until a few months later, at another event in August, that we truly connected. That evening, Ben asked me to be his wingman, but surprisingly, he declined every person I suggested. Instead, we spent the entire night engrossed in conversation. After the party, we continued chatting at a nearby spot until it was time to part ways. He kindly gave me a ride home but never asked for my contact details, which left a lasting impression on me.
In the months that followed, we kept bumping into each other, and each encounter led to long, meaningful conversations. Although we both felt a mutual attraction, neither of us was ready to dive into a relationship. We understood that if we did pursue something, it would be serious, not casual. Our friends often noticed the undeniable chemistry between us, frequently asking if we were more than friends because we gave off “that energy.” Despite our efforts to remain just friends, the feelings were hard to ignore, and eventually, we drifted apart.
In 2020, we reconnected and gradually developed a sincere friendship. The following year, Ben secured a job in Lagos. Just a week before his move, we had an open and heartfelt discussion about our feelings and agreed to explore a relationship. What ensued was nine months of long-distance love, filled with frequent calls, visits, and unwavering patience. By April 2022, Ben returned to Abuja, allowing us to nurture the bond we had been cultivating. Those months were filled with joy, laughter, and unforgettable memories. In November 2023, he proposed, marking the beginning of our new chapter. Reflecting on our journey, it was never rushed; it unfolded naturally, perfectly timed and meant to be. Now, we eagerly look forward to writing our future together.
