The highly anticipated official trailer for Asurf Oluseyi’s thriller, 3 Cold Dishes, has finally been released, featuring the iconic voice of Burna Boy.
The Grammy-winning musician makes a captivating appearance following the familiar narration from his 2020 hit “Monsters You Made,” announcing, “3 Cold Dishes. The official trailer drops in 3, 2, 1, pow.” From this moment, the trailer immerses viewers in a gripping tale of revenge that crosses continents and decades, revealing wounds that refuse to heal.
Set across Nigeria, Benin, Côte d’Ivoire, and Mauritania, the film centers on three women-portrayed by Osas Ighodaro, Fat Toure, and Maud Guerard-who confront their painful pasts marked by trauma, survival, and betrayal. “It’s about time. It’s about reason. And there’s three of them,” Ighodaro states in the trailer, encapsulating the movie’s core theme.
The intense two-minute and 48-second preview skillfully shifts between past and present timelines: Ruby Akubueze embodies a younger version of Ighodaro’s character held captive, Amelie Mbaye narrates in French about desperate escape attempts, and Fat Toure’s character pledges vengeance.
As the women track down Wale Ojo’s character and their traffickers-men linked to their shared history-violence erupts across borders. Explosions, gunfights, and betrayals propel the narrative into a high-stakes action thriller.
The cast also includes Femi Jacobs and Mentor Ba, featuring a diverse international ensemble with dialogue in both English and French.
Produced collaboratively by Asurf Films, Burna Boy, and Bose Ogulu’s Space Films, the project also involves Nexthought Studios, Ifind Pictures (France), Black Mic Mac (France), Martian Network (The Netherlands), and Alma Production (Côte d’Ivoire). Financial support came from MBO Capital, with Osas Ighodaro co-producing through her Imuetinyan Productions.
Under Oluseyi’s direction and based on a screenplay by Tomi Adesina, the film delves into the harrowing realities of human trafficking, exploitation, and the enduring impact of violence.
Even before its official release, 3 Cold Dishes has garnered acclaim, earning two Septimius Awards nominations and being selected among six Nigerian films showcased to international buyers at TIFF 50. The film is slated for a broad global rollout through festivals and theatrical screenings.
Following a recent week-long promotional tour, the movie is scheduled to premiere worldwide on October 3 at Cineworld Cinemas O2 in London, with tickets now available for eager audiences.
After its UK debut, 3 Cold Dishes will be released in cinemas across West Africa, France, and other regions. Starting November 7, it will screen in Nigeria, Ghana, Liberia, Kenya, Cameroon, and the United Kingdom.
From November 28 onward, viewers in Côte d’Ivoire, Senegal, Benin, Togo, DRC, Uganda, Rwanda, Niger, Mali, Burkina Faso, Madagascar, Tunisia, Algeria, Equatorial Guinea, and Djibouti will have access to the film, ahead of its Canadian premiere on December 16, 2025.
From its inception through Burna Boy’s teaser reveal at Stade de France, Nollywire has closely tracked the film’s journey, with excitement mounting for Oluseyi’s most ambitious cinematic endeavor to date.
The trailer concludes with a powerful image: the getaway car carrying Osas Ighodaro, Fat Toure, and Maud Guerard careening off a cliff and crashing onto jagged rocks below. This haunting finale poses the film’s central dilemma-will their quest for vengeance deliver justice, or will it ultimately destroy them?
