- Erika Kirk moved the crowd by publicly forgiving the individual charged with her husband’s death, advocating for compassion over resentment and committing to uphold his Turning Point USA legacy.
- The memorial, attended by thousands including Donald Trump and JD Vance, underscored both Kirk’s political impact and the intense emotions surrounding his passing.
During a heartfelt memorial held at State Farm Stadium in Arizona, Erika Kirk, widow of Charlie Kirk, surprised many by extending forgiveness to the man accused of her husband’s murder.
Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, was fatally shot outside an event in Arizona just two weeks prior, igniting widespread discussions about political violence and extremism.
Erika emphasized, “Responding to hatred with hatred only fuels the fire. True strength lies in loving those who oppose us and offering forgiveness.” She pledged to carry forward Charlie’s vision and work.
The ceremony attracted thousands of attendees, including prominent figures like Donald Trump and JD Vance, with Erika’s message of reconciliation standing out amid the charged political atmosphere following Charlie’s death.
In a separate development, Evangelist Isaac Josiah, lead pastor of Reclaimers Ministry in Benin City, Edo State, sparked controversy after a video circulated on Facebook showing him distributing bras, wrappers, and pajamas during a service to address what he described as “immodest dressing.”
He criticized the attire of female congregants, stating: “When believers say, ‘It’s twelve o’clock,’ it’s about the heart’s posture. If your heart is right, you won’t wear clothing meant to entice others in church. Ushers, bring my tools.”
Addressing his ushers, he instructed: “Brother Osase, Eric, and Chimere, you’re stationed at the entrance. From now on, any woman entering with visible nipples will be given a bra, with the message that the church is providing it on her behalf. If we can’t help you change here, find another church. I’m a young man striving for heaven.”
He further commanded: “If a sister refuses the bra, call her and ask, ‘How much is a tricycle ride home?’ Brothers Eric, Osase, and Chimere, you are hereby appointed as the church’s disciplinarians.”
Josiah also requested: “We need bras in various sizes for the usher team. If someone wears a bra but their outfit remains inappropriate, offer them a white cloth. We seek angels in our congregation. If you come in a mini skirt and keep adjusting it, or if a man arrives without a belt, provide them with this white pajama.”
He condemned revealing clothing, saying: “Many pastors won’t say this, but if we can’t correct you here, find another church. When we worship, some brothers struggle because their attention is drawn to breasts and buttocks, not the person.”
Josiah also urged ushers to protect nursing mothers‘ privacy: “A nursing mother’s body is private and should not be exposed publicly.”
“If you come to church with a tight back showing, or as a man without a belt, we will provide one. We plan to buy belts next week for the congregation. Tell them, ‘Brothers, wear this as Reclaimers to reclaim the world.’ For mothers, breasts are for their families, not public display. If exposed, cover them with a wrapper, not just a handkerchief.”
“We are serious about this. If I see this again, I won’t be lenient because we are raising disciplined followers. If you want a church where you can dress however you like, this isn’t the place. Go elsewhere.”
