Hilda Baci, the renowned chef and Guinness World Record holder, recently addressed the fate of the massive pot that played a central role in her record-setting jollof rice preparation. Speaking at a Lagos press event, she made it clear that the pot will remain intact and not be put up for sale or auction.
Despite numerous inquiries and offers from interested parties wanting to purchase the pot, Hilda highlighted its profound symbolic value beyond mere material worth.
“Many people have asked about the pot, some even suggested auctioning it off,” she remarked. “But this pot is more than just cookware; it’s a testament to our history, a beacon of faith, and a symbol of innovation.”
She further revealed that her team is committed to restoring the pot and ensuring it becomes accessible to the public, possibly displayed in museums or other prominent locations for everyone to appreciate.
“We want as many people as possible to witness its significance firsthand. You might even come across it during your daily commute someday,” Hilda added.
This announcement follows her recent achievement of setting a new Guinness World Record for the largest serving of Nigerian jollof rice, weighing an impressive 8,780 kilograms, further elevating Nigeria’s culinary reputation worldwide.
In a separate development, Nollywood actress Amarachi Igidimbah has addressed misunderstandings surrounding her recent interaction with actor Yul Edochie, which sparked debate about her views on marriage.
The controversy arose after Amarachi shared a video clip from what appeared to be a film set, where she complimented Yul and humorously advised women to steer clear, stating he was “taken.”
Accompanying the video on Instagram, she wrote:

“The misunderstanding stems from me saying ‘He is taken.’ Is he single? No, he is legally married. What else should I say when a married man mentions women pursuing him? The anger towards that statement reveals biased perspectives eager to criticize anyone associated with Yul. These remarks were made in a fun, relaxed atmosphere-not serious or personal. Those who know me understand my stance, so it was surprising to see such misinterpretations. I advocate for one man, one woman. I promote positive energy and would never celebrate someone else’s pain. To be clear, I do not support what has happened in this family, but I also refuse to inherit hostility in a conflict I don’t fully understand or to oppose a respected colleague,” she explained.
