  • Nigerian hip-hop artist Odumodu Blvck recently reminisced about a poignant moment shared with his uncle during his adolescence.
  • He recounted this memory in a post on X, which quickly captured widespread attention and went viral.
  • The musician emphasized the meaningful guidance his uncle imparted to him at the age of 19.

Tochukwu Gbubemi Ojogwu, popularly known as Odumodu Blvck, a Nigerian rapper and vocalist, recently reflected on a significant interaction with his uncle from his teenage years.

In a viral post on X (formerly Twitter), he shared the recurring advice his uncle gave him when he was 19 years old.

“Mr Eazi had an uncle who lent him ₦19 million at 19. At 19, my uncles would only say, ‘You’ve grown o.’ They gave me food, but that was it,” Odumodu expressed.

This statement came in response to revelations by fellow artist Mr Eazi, who recently opened up about his early financial challenges.

During a podcast recorded in the UK, the founder of emPawa Africa, now married to Temi Otedola-the daughter of billionaire Femi Otedola-disclosed that he once borrowed ₦19 million from his uncle to start a diesel business.

Mr Eazi recounted that the venture failed within three months, resulting in a total loss of the investment. “At 19, I borrowed ₦19 million from my uncle for a diesel business. Three months later, the business failed and I lost it all,” he shared.

Here are some reactions from users:

@Lobarbeatz: “Mr Eazi lowkey fits the definition of a NEPO baby.”

@barafalee_unf: “Even if it’s just a little, Mr Eazi’s success today is undeniable.”

@JAKE_IQ7: “Finally, someone spoke the truth. I borrowed money from my uncle too. Mr Eazi didn’t exactly start from scratch as he sometimes claims. He had exposure to illegal gold mining-do you realize the kind of advantage that gives? His results are no surprise.”

@AimThaMachine_: “At 19, while I was trying to figure out my path, my uncle’s only advice was to finish school and send him my CV… to this day, no response.”

@girlhives: “Mr Eazi was never truly poor. He can’t deny being a Nepo baby, but that doesn’t diminish his hard work and dedication. He’s truly inspiring.”

@Araboriota78332: “I wish my uncle could see this. When I was 19, he used to tell me to get a girl’s number and said he was ‘training me.'”

@kraft_demo: “If I told you the conditions people set when they want to borrow money from me, you’d run away even if you desperately needed it.”
