Emmanuel Dennis is on the verge of an unexpected transfer to the Saudi Pro League, with negotiations reportedly underway with Al-Shabab, according to Soccernet.ng.

The 27-year-old Nigerian striker has been a free agent since parting ways with Nottingham Forest by mutual agreement last month.

Dennis arrived at Forest in 2022 for a £20 million fee but struggled to secure a consistent place in the squad, spending much of his time out on loan at İstanbul Başakşehir, Watford, and Blackburn Rovers.

According to a SportsBoom update, Al-Shabab is considering offering Dennis a two-year contract, aiming to bolster their attacking options with the versatile Super Eagles forward.

Having recently secured former Burnley captain Josh Brownhill, the Saudi club views Dennis as a low-risk acquisition, especially since no transfer fee is involved and salary demands are manageable.

After two seasons marked by limited playing time, Dennis is reportedly focused on securing regular minutes on the pitch.

Despite showcasing bursts of speed and clinical finishing, his career momentum has stalled since his time at Watford, where he netted 10 Premier League goals in the 2021-22 season.

A transfer to Riyadh could provide the fresh start he needs to reignite his career.

Al-Shabab, recognized as one of the most ambitious clubs in the Saudi Pro League, has a history of recruiting Nigerian legends such as Rashidi Yekini, Michael Emenalo, and Odion Ighalo, the latter impressively scoring 22 goals in 32 appearances.

With Dennis available on a free transfer, he presents an appealing option for Al-Shabab as they seek to strengthen their attacking lineup with proven talent.

Although Dennis has engaged in discussions with several European clubs, the offer from Saudi Arabia reportedly stands out as the most lucrative and promising in terms of both financial rewards and playing opportunities.

For a player eager to regain form and strengthen his position within the Nigerian national team, Al-Shabab could provide the ideal platform to showcase his abilities.

Dennis has represented Nigeria at the under-23 level and earned his senior debut in a friendly against Ukraine in 2019.

The former Club Brugge attacker has since accumulated eight caps for the Super Eagles, scoring once for the three-time African champions.
