Comrade Idris Haruna Magami, a reporter affiliated with Zamfara State Radio and Television Service in Gusau, has reportedly been kidnapped by unidentified assailants. Witnesses revealed that Magami was seized on the Gusau-Dansadau highway last Wednesday while heading back to his native village, Magami, located approximately 40 kilometers from Gusau, the state capital, after his workday ended.
In a separate incident, the Kaneshie Magistrate Court has detained three men suspected of armed robbery and murder linked to the killing of a vehicle trader in Tema Community 9. The accused-Benjamin Essel (29), Latif Nashiru (24), and Michael Tetteh, also known as James Osei (22)-face charges of homicide and armed robbery.
Meanwhile, the Ebony State Police Command has dismantled a child trafficking ring responsible for abducting and selling a child for N355,000. Authorities successfully recovered the child, who was taken from the mother in Ebony State and sold in Anambra State.
On Friday, students nationwide intensified their demonstrations against the ongoing strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU). At Olabisi Onabanjo University in Ago Iwoye, Ogun State, students gathered en masse to block the Ijebu Ode/Ibadan expressway. Similarly, in Ibadan, protesters clashed with Nigerian Army personnel when the military attempted to break through the student blockade, nearly causing injuries by driving through the crowd.
