AbdulRazaq’s Achievements In 6 Years Surpass His Predecessors’ Since 1999 – Kwara South Leaders

Kwara South Leaders Hail AbdulRazaq: Six Years of Unmatched Achievements Outshine All Since 1999

Prominent leaders and influential stakeholders from Kwara South, encompassing the local government areas of Irepodun, Ifelodun, Isin, Ekiti, Oke-Ero, Offa, and Oyun, have expressed strong approval of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s administration, commending its achievements over the past six years.

These community leaders confidently asserted that Governor AbdulRazaq’s accomplishments since 2019 have significantly surpassed the combined progress made by his predecessors between 1999 and 2019.

The endorsement came during a strategic consultation meeting convened by the Kwara South Development Initiative (KSDI) in Ilorin, the state capital. The gathering was themed “Strategic Consultation of Kwara South Leaders: Reawakening the Giant.”

Dr. Johnson Thomas Adewumi, the convener of the meeting and Chancellor of Thomas Adewumi University, Oko-Irese, opened the session by highlighting the governor’s transformative impact. He remarked, “Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq CON’s six-year tenure has eclipsed the collective efforts of all previous administrations from 1999 to 2019, especially in welfare and infrastructure development.”

He noted the remarkable transformation of Ilorin, once perceived as a hub of deprivation, now revitalized with visible improvements. “Civil servants no longer endure salary delays or reductions; their wages have been increased, and pensioners receive their payments promptly every month,” he added.

On healthcare, Dr. Adewumi praised the governor’s rehabilitation of General and Cottage hospitals and the establishment of three University Teaching Hospitals across the state, including one in Kwara South. He also highlighted the extensive road reconstruction projects underway, such as a brand-new road in Oyun local government area, attributing these successes to prudent management of state resources.

“Since May 2019, the governor has been dedicated to rebuilding Kwara State. The evidence of progress is undeniable. His commitment to fairness among the diverse communities within the state is commendable,” he emphasized.

Addressing security concerns in Kwara South, Dr. Adewumi stated, “Despite widespread skepticism, we, including our Royal Highnesses, recognize and appreciate the substantial support provided by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and local government chairmen towards enhancing security in the region. Unfortunately, our federal representatives have largely neglected their responsibilities, leaving us vulnerable.”

He called on stakeholders to actively participate in safeguarding their communities, noting, “Ownership and collaboration with government efforts are essential. I am aware that members of Traditional Councils have voluntarily committed to monthly contributions to support local vigilante groups and security initiatives in Kwara South.”

Dr. Adewumi further urged for genuine change, stating, “After enduring years of insecurity, economic challenges, and ineffective representation, it is crucial to be discerning. The youth are increasingly rejecting recycled politicians lacking clear visions. Key issues such as job creation, security reform, healthcare, education, and infrastructure must dominate political discourse. Our young people seek real opportunities, and even those abroad are eager to return, though often discouraged by negative news from home.”

Looking ahead to the 2027 elections, he stressed, “Kwara South must reject candidates who attempt to buy votes. We need unity in selecting leaders with credible, actionable plans to revive our communities and ensure security. I trust Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq will respect our choices. However, some individuals have already begun erecting billboards and exchanging money and gifts with prospective candidates. When the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) signals the start of the 2027 election cycle, Kwara South must stand united behind candidates with proven records of community service.”

He appealed to traditional rulers, “Please refuse any monetary inducements from those posing as candidates. Our people are weary of empty promises and demand tangible results. We must raise the standards for both current and aspiring leaders. I urge all stakeholders to actively seek out credible men and women from our communities to represent us effectively in Ilorin and Abuja.”

Supporting these sentiments, the Olupo of Ajase-Ipo, Oba Ismail Alebiosu, a leading traditional ruler in Igbominaland, echoed the call for accountability. He questioned, “Has any National Assembly member truly impacted our lives? They have failed to engage with their constituents or attend community and religious events.”

Oba Alebiosu advised voters, “In the upcoming elections, if candidates approach you with money, accept it but cast your vote for the most deserving individuals.”

Representing Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, his Deputy Chief of Staff, Princess Olubukola Babalola, appealed for unity among the people, stating, “Together, we can revive the greatness of Kwara South, fostering prosperity and security for all.”

She added, “Let us collaborate in this noble mission to build a stronger, more vibrant Kwara. Your resilience and leadership have been fundamental to our collective progress, and I commend your ongoing dedication. Infrastructure development remains a priority to unlock economic potential and enhance quality of life.”

Princess Babalola encouraged continued support for government initiatives, particularly in bolstering human security across the state.

On the topic of insecurity, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq affirmed, “We are deploying all necessary resources to strengthen security and eliminate criminal elements. Security is a shared responsibility, and your cooperation with security agencies is crucial. Vigilance is essential, as our adversaries have informants within our communities. Let us unite to expose these threats and maintain safe, thriving environments.”

He expressed heartfelt gratitude for community-led security efforts, acknowledging the sacrifices of council chairmen, traditional rulers, thought leaders, and courageous vigilantes. “Our thoughts are with the families of those heroes who lost their lives protecting us,” he concluded.
