In preparation for the upcoming coronation of Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland this Friday, the Oyo State Police Command has rolled out extensive security arrangements to guarantee a safe and orderly celebration.
Speaking on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Osifeso Adewale, highlighted that the event marks a significant cultural and historical occasion expected to attract prominent dignitaries and attendees from across the globe.
“Given the anticipated large gathering, the Oyo State Police Command, collaborating closely with allied security agencies, has developed a robust security framework to ensure comprehensive protection throughout the state,” he explained.
“This framework includes proactive patrols to boost public confidence, intensified monitoring activities, and intelligence-driven stop-and-search operations implemented statewide,” CSP Adewale added.
He further noted that special security focus will be directed at all major ingress and egress points of Oyo State, with heightened vigilance around the coronation site itself.
Key locations under increased surveillance will include public recreational areas, railway stations, and the Samuel Ladoke Akintola International Airport in Ibadan.
“The event’s organizing committee, appointed by the Oyo State government, has officially announced the temporary closure of specific roads surrounding the historic Mapo Hall starting from 7 a.m. on the day of the coronation,” he stated.
“The affected routes closed to public traffic are: Beere Junction leading to Mapo Hall, Born Photo Junction towards Oja’ba, Idi-Arere Junction to Oja’ba, and Itamerin Junction heading to Mapo Hall.”
“In view of these road restrictions, the Oyo State Police Command urges residents and visitors to plan their journeys in advance and utilize alternative pathways to avoid inconvenience,” he advised.
