Bitget, recognized globally as a premier Universal Exchange (UEX), convened hundreds of young Nigerians in Lagos for an immersive day focused on blockchain technology, cryptocurrencies, and the expanding opportunities for everyday individuals to access international stocks and ETFs via digital platforms. The gathering featured a blend of hands-on workshops, engaging quizzes, and open forums encouraging community interaction.

Addressing the challenge of blockchain’s perceived complexity among many Nigerians, the Lagos Community Education Day aimed to simplify these concepts through dynamic presentations and real-time demonstrations. Attendees gained insights into the fundamentals of blockchain networks, from Bitcoin to Ethereum and beyond. The sessions also covered the distinctions between custodial and non-custodial wallets, strategies for safeguarding digital assets, and practical guidance on deposits and withdrawals tailored to the Nigerian context, including peer-to-peer trading, card transactions, and mobile money solutions. Participants also experienced live demonstrations of trading tools such as spot trading, futures, and copy trading, alongside tutorials on conducting thorough project research before committing investments.

A highlight of the event was the exploration of how cryptocurrency exchanges are evolving to offer access to global equities and ETFs. Presenters detailed how tokenization technology enables Nigerians to invest in international giants like Amazon or Google, as well as diversified index funds that mirror entire market sectors. This fusion of blockchain with traditional stock and ETF markets significantly reduces barriers to global investing, empowering young Nigerians to look beyond their local financial landscape.

“Hosting events like this in Lagos equips communities with essential knowledge and resources to confidently engage with blockchain-from managing wallets and payments to seizing opportunities in global stocks and ETFs. Education remains central to our vision,” stated Vugar Usi Zade, COO of Bitget.

“The enthusiastic participation underscores Nigerians’ strong desire to integrate conventional finance with Web3 advancements. More than just theoretical learning, attendees engaged in interactive trivia, live polls, and networking sessions. Prizes included branded gear, collectibles, and other exclusive rewards,” he added.

“By the conclusion of the day, many participants not only expanded their understanding but also forged valuable connections with peers equally passionate about digital finance. This Lagos event is part of a broader regional campaign spanning Africa, with previous stops in Nairobi, Johannesburg, and Addis Ababa. Our mission is to demystify digital finance for young people and equip them with actionable skills that unlock new economic possibilities,” Usi Zade concluded.
