Oba Rashidi Ladoja, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, has pledged to create a favorable climate for both domestic and international investors as he introduced his socio-economic development agenda.

He highlighted that these initiatives are crucial not only for the advancement of Ibadan’s economy but also for the broader prosperity of Oyo State.
Oba Ladoja clarified that his role as Olubadan transcends ceremonial honors or traditional regalia; it is fundamentally about driving the socio-economic progress of the region.
“My foremost responsibility as the Olubadan is to foster the development of Ibadanland,” he remarked.
“This position is not merely about wearing a crown or beads but about ensuring comprehensive growth for our city.”
He further committed to partnering with governmental bodies at all tiers to uphold Ibadan and Oyo State’s reputation as leaders in progress and innovation.
“Governance here is a collective effort. I serve as the chief coordinator, while every citizen plays a vital role-consider yourselves the junior Olubadans, and I am the senior Olubadan.”
“With divine favor and your cooperation, Ibadan is destined for greatness. I now stand as the monarch for all religious communities within Ibadan.”
He noted the city’s longstanding harmony among diverse faiths, attributing it to the inclusive nature of families that encompass members from various religious backgrounds.
“Ibadan remains a fertile ground for investment and economic expansion. Its prosperity will continue unabated,” he affirmed.
In his address, Most Rev. Gabriel Abegunrin, Archbishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Ibadan, hailed Oba Ladoja’s ascension as a manifestation of divine providence, recognizing the monarch’s endurance, strength, and wisdom.
The Archbishop described the Olubadan’s longevity as a blessing and underscored that his enthronement carries a sacred responsibility to uphold peace, unity, and the advancement of the Ibadan people.
He praised Oba Ladoja’s choice to begin his reign with a thanksgiving service, interpreting it as a sign of humility before God and a profound commitment to nurturing interfaith harmony.
“Oba Ladoja has exemplified a spirit of religious tolerance and mutual respect that will serve as a lasting hallmark of his leadership,” the Archbishop stated.
He assured the church’s ongoing prayers and support, expressing eagerness to work alongside the monarch in fostering justice, peace, and the welfare of all Ibadan residents.
Concluding his message, the Archbishop prayed for the Olubadan’s sustained health, divine wisdom, and courageous, compassionate governance.
The thanksgiving ceremony was graced by the presence of the Olubadan-in-Council, members of the royal family, prominent Iyalodes, and numerous well-wishers.
