The spotlight shines brightly on teenage forward Kparobo Nathaniel Arierhi as Nigeria’s Flying Eagles embark on their FIFA U20 World Cup journey in Chile, according to Soccernet.ng.
Representing Norwegian club Mjøndalen IF Fotball, the 18-year-old attacker is widely regarded as Nigeria’s emerging offensive talent.
Often dubbed “the next Victor Osimhen” due to his blistering speed and clinical goal-scoring ability, Arierhi has expressed confidence that the squad is fully prepared to end Nigeria’s two-decade absence from the U20 World Cup final.
“Everything feels great,” Arierhi shared with Ademola Victory during training camp. “We’re working hard and absorbing new tactics that we plan to implement during the tournament. I’m convinced we’re ready to give our all and perform at our highest level.”
Placed in Group F, Nigeria will face Norway, Colombia, and Saudi Arabia, kicking off their campaign against Norway on September 29. The Flying Eagles last reached the U20 World Cup final in 2005, where they were defeated by an Argentina side led by Lionel Messi.
Having propelled Nigeria to U20 WAFU championship success with a decisive two-goal performance against Ghana in the final, Arierhi views this World Cup as a prime opportunity to demonstrate his skills on a global platform.
What Kparobo Arierhi Expects from the Flying Eagles’ Campaign
Although Nigeria secured a bronze medal at the recent U20 AFCON, Arierhi insists the team’s determination remains unwavering.
“The AFCON didn’t yield the results we aimed for, but now we have the World Cup to focus on,” he remarked. “We’re committed to making our nation proud, as well as ourselves and our families.”

Playing his club football in Norway, Arierhi is particularly eager to compete against familiar opponents when Nigeria faces Norway in their opening match.
“It’s exciting because I know some players on the Norwegian team personally,” he said. “Facing them on the field will be thrilling, but ultimately, our focus is on securing victory and earning points for our team.”
Alex Iwobi’s Encouragement for Kparobo Arierhi
Alex Iwobi, currently with Fulham FC, has recently motivated Arierhi to aspire to match or even exceed the achievements of Victor Osimhen, who ranks as the second-highest scorer in Super Eagles history.
“Hey Kparobo, I’ve watched some of your highlights and your finishing is impressive,” Iwobi commented. “Keep pushing forward. You have excellent technique and composure as a striker, so you might become the next Osimhen-or even surpass him.”

As the Flying Eagles prepare to face Norway, Nigerian supporters eagerly anticipate that Arierhi’s talent and the team’s relentless drive will combine to produce an inspiring tournament run.
