The Jigawa Education Accountability Forum (JEAF), a key state-level oversight body, has praised the Jigawa state government for its dedicated efforts to revamp the basic education system, aiming to boost foundational skills and enhance learning achievements.
During a recent press briefing in Dutse, JEAF co-chair Malam Tasi’u Abubakar highlighted the progress observed through the forum’s independent assessments and monitoring activities.
He emphasized that over the past two years, under Governor Umar Namadi’s leadership, there has been notable advancement in the quality of basic education within the state.
“The government’s focus on creating a supportive atmosphere for both teaching and learning, coupled with active engagement of parents, civil society groups, and local communities in school governance, is beginning to produce tangible benefits,” Malam Tasi’u remarked.
He further pointed out the recent allocation of ₦779,269,895 dedicated to acquiring textbooks and other essential educational resources, alongside the purchase of 295 motorcycles for local hunters tasked with enhancing school security, as significant and commendable initiatives.
The JEAF co-chair noted that these measures directly address several concerns previously raised by the forum, viewing the government’s proactive response as a positive stride forward.
Additionally, the forum acknowledged the valuable support and expertise provided by the PLANE programme, which has been instrumental in assisting both the state government and civil society organizations to improve educational outcomes.
JEAF reaffirmed its dedication to fostering ongoing partnerships with government bodies, development partners, and community stakeholders to strengthen accountability frameworks and drive sustainable progress in Jigawa’s education sector.
