Renowned Nigerian singer and songwriter Seyi Shay recently emphasized the crucial role that father figures play in fostering emotional stability and overall well-being in young women. She highlighted how a positive paternal influence significantly contributes to their personal growth and development.
During her appearance on the Honest Bunch Podcast, which aired on Tuesday, the acclaimed artist elaborated that fatherhood encompasses much more than just financial provision. She pointed out that guidance, protection, and emotional support are essential components that fathers bring to a young woman’s life.
Seyi Shay further explained that fathers serve as important role models, instilling core values, offering direction, and setting standards that shape their daughters’ choices in friendships and romantic relationships.

She challenged the misconception that men are dispensable within the family unit or in their children’s lives, describing such beliefs as divisive and harmful to family cohesion.
“Daughters who grow up with a father figure tend to exhibit greater emotional resilience. They often have access to better educational opportunities, stronger moral foundations, and clearer benchmarks when it comes to selecting life partners or friends,” Seyi Shay stated.
“The narrative that men are unnecessary or irrelevant in the home is misleading. It’s a harmful agenda that fosters division and breeds more fractured individuals-both women and men alike,” she added.
