A harrowing video circulated on social media this Tuesday captures the frantic escape of residents from the Oke-Ode community in Ifelodun Local Government Area, Kwara State, as they flee a violent terrorist siege.
Reports indicate that the community has been under relentless assault by armed militants since Sunday, resulting in the deaths of 12 individuals, including nine members of a local vigilante group established to protect the area.
The attackers initially targeted the Hybrid Force security camp, overpowering the personnel stationed there before advancing into the town itself.
On the following day, the militants regrouped and launched a second offensive on Oke-Ode, killing 10 more people and abducting numerous residents.
In the distressing footage, a man speaking in Yoruba explains that many inhabitants have chosen to evacuate with their families to escape the ongoing violence and avoid further casualties.
“Due to the escalating insecurity, people are abandoning their homes in Oke-Ode and seeking refuge elsewhere within Kwara State,” the narrator conveyed.
