Ogwashi-Uku Town in Delta State is set to host the 14th annual edition of its renowned dance carnival on Christmas Day.
Taking place on Thursday, December 25, 2025, the festivities will begin at 2 p.m. and continue into the night, attracting both locals and visitors to the vibrant center of Ogwashi-Uku’s holiday celebrations.
Anthonia Oguah, the mastermind behind the Ogwashi-Uku Carnival, hailed the event as “the most dynamic cultural festivity in Delta during the Christmas season,” uniting families and friends through an engaging blend of music, dance, and artistic expression.
A standout feature this year is the carnival costume contest, where participants will showcase vivid and creative attire, competing for exciting awards.
More than just entertainment, the carnival has evolved into a strategic platform for cultural exchange and community promotion. Under the theme “Enhancing Ogwashi-Uku’s Image Through Culture and Dance,” the event aims to highlight the town’s rich traditions while encouraging social cohesion and tourism growth.
“The carnival has grown into a significant cultural phenomenon in Delta State. It transcends a mere display of costumes and dance, serving as a powerful medium to celebrate the spirit and energy of our people,” an organiser remarked.
Now marking its 14th year, the carnival continues to attract increasing crowds, stimulating local commerce and providing young talents with a creative outlet during the festive period.
Organisers are confident that this year’s celebration will surpass all previous editions, as Ogwashi-Uku once again opens its doors to the world to experience its cultural vibrancy.
