Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, the Olubadan of Ibadan land, has pledged his support to Chief Sunday Adeyemo, widely known as Sunday Igboho, concerning the latter’s ongoing dispute with the Federal Government.
This commitment was made during a private meeting held at the Olubadan’s residence in Bodija, Ibadan.
Recall that Sunday Igboho has been at odds with the Federal Government for several years due to his advocacy for an autonomous Yoruba nation. This conflict escalated to a raid on his residence by DSS agents, resulting in casualties among his followers and the freezing of his financial accounts.
According to a statement from Igboho’s media team, the discussion, which lasted approximately 40 minutes on Monday, centered on the rising insecurity in the South-West region and the increasing menace posed by bandits in parts of neighboring Kwara State.
An insider revealed that Oba Ladoja warmly welcomed Igboho and his entourage, assuring them of his commitment to intervene in the challenges Igboho currently faces.
During the visit, Igboho extended his congratulations to the monarch on his recent enthronement, praising him as a widely respected leader throughout Ibadan, Yorubaland, and beyond.
He also conveyed his readiness to collaborate with the Federal Government to enhance security across the South-West, emphasizing that peace and stability are vital for progress.
“Since his tenure as governor of Oyo State, Olubadan has been like a father to me. I admire Kabiyesi’s leadership, humility, and lasting impact,” Igboho remarked.
“I have always regarded Oba Ladoja as a paternal figure. His leadership as Olubadan is certain to foster peace, unity, and growth in Ibadanland and the wider Yorubaland,” he added.
