Comrade Solomon Adodo, a board member of the North Central Development Commission (NCDC), inaugurated the Tinubu Cares Initiative as part of the festivities celebrating Nigeria’s 65th Independence anniversary in Abuja.
Adodo, who also holds the position of president of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), delivered a commemorative address at the NYCN Secretariat in Abuja to mark this significant milestone.
In his speech, he reflected on Nigeria’s independence as the liberation from colonial domination and a hopeful gateway to a brighter future, particularly for the nation’s youth.
He paid tribute to the courageous Nigerians who fought for the country’s sovereignty and the democratic values that citizens now enjoy.
The youth leader emphasized that under President Tinubu’s leadership, Nigeria is embarking on a revitalized journey toward economic freedom, with young people positioned at the forefront of this transformative agenda.
He affirmed, “We have a president who places his trust in the youth.” Consequently, it is imperative that we unite behind him and contribute actively to Nigeria’s economic progress. Since the beginning of this administration, numerous programs have been introduced to uplift young Nigerians.
“As a leader committed to viewing young people as essential collaborators in national development, the NYCN is resolute in turning the Renewed Hope Agenda from a slogan into a tangible achievement,” he stated.
He further announced, “In celebration of this year’s independence, we are proud to launch the Tinubu Cares Initiative, a clear demonstration that the president’s concern for Nigerian youth extends beyond rhetoric to meaningful action.”
Among the event’s highlights was the NYCN delegation’s visit to Area 1 Market in Abuja, where they distributed shoemaking and tailoring supplies along with financial support to local traders.
Additionally, the council unveiled the NYCN Entrepreneurial Development Fund, designed to offer interest-free loans to young entrepreneurs eager to transform their ideas into successful enterprises.
The NYCN also praised the National Assembly, led by Senator Godswill Akpabio, for its collaborative efforts with the Executive branch in enacting legislation that has bolstered development across Nigeria’s diverse regions.
