Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived back in Abuja following his representation of President Bola Tinubu at the 80th United Nations General Assembly in New York, as well as key diplomatic meetings in Germany.
As detailed by his spokesperson, Stanley Nkwocha, throughout the week-long international summit, the Vice President articulated President Tinubu’s call for extensive reforms within the United Nations. He also advocated for Africa’s control over its vast $700 billion mineral wealth and reinforced vital alliances with the United Kingdom, the Gates Foundation, and other global partners.
During his visit, VP Shettima held discussions with UN Secretary-General António Guterres, who expressed strong support for Nigeria’s campaign to secure a permanent seat on the UN Security Council. Additionally, the Vice President presented Nigeria’s $200 billion opportunity in the energy transition sector to prospective international investors.
Before proceeding to Germany, the Vice President reassured members of the Nigerian diaspora of the administration’s commitment to actively involve them in the implementation of President Tinubu’s policies and initiatives.
