On Wednesday, Forbes highlighted that Elon Musk, the billionaire entrepreneur and CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, is approaching an unprecedented financial milestone-nearly becoming the world’s first trillionaire.
The publication’s Real-Time Billionaires tracker revealed that Musk’s net worth briefly soared to $500.1 billion before settling slightly lower at $499.1 billion.
This surge coincides with Tesla’s recovery after navigating recent political challenges, alongside positive developments in Musk’s other business ventures.
Trailing Musk on Forbes’ wealth ranking is Larry Ellison, co-founder of Oracle, with a fortune valued at $350.7 billion, followed by Meta’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg, who holds $245.8 billion.
At 54 years old, Musk’s journey to immense wealth began in 1999 when he sold his online publishing software company to Compaq for more than $300 million.
He subsequently co-founded X.com, which later merged with PayPal, before founding SpaceX in 2002 and taking on the role of Tesla chairman in 2004.
