Temi Otedola, daughter of billionaire entrepreneur Femi Otedola, recently shared the motivation behind adopting her husband Mr Eazi’s surname, Ajibade, following their marriage.
During a conversation with the BBC on Wednesday, Temi revealed that the choice was deeply personal.
“Now that I’m married, it felt natural to take on my husband’s last name. However, this is entirely my own decision. I also honor every woman’s right to make her own choice,” she expressed.
The actress also touched on the importance of maintaining privacy in her relationship, which has helped her control the narrative surrounding her personal life.
“Keeping things private allows you to shape your story on your own terms and reveal it when you feel ready,” she explained.
Regarding her father’s newly published memoir, Temi described it as a vital documentation of his entrepreneurial experiences.
“My father possesses immense wisdom. I’ve been lucky to learn from him, but I believe he wanted the world to gain insight into his journey as a business pioneer,” she remarked.
She openly acknowledged the advantages her upbringing afforded her, emphasizing the importance of recognizing such privileges.
“Definitely. I would never deny it. It’s crucial for those born into privilege to be aware of the head start they’ve had in life,” she confessed.
Nonetheless, Temi revealed that her father’s choice to keep his children separate from his business ventures motivated them to pursue their own ambitions.
“Initially, I felt let down, but it turned out to be a blessing because it pushed us to carve out our own paths,” she shared.
She concluded by highlighting that her father’s unwavering determination during difficult periods continues to inspire her profoundly.
