Mr. Bode Agoro, the Head of Service for Lagos State, reaffirmed the government’s dedication to leveraging technological advancements to cultivate a workforce that is innovative, adaptable, and competitive on a global scale.
During a press conference held at the Public Service Office in Alausa, Agoro introduced the lineup of events for the 2025 Public Service Week. He emphasized that the celebration aims to honor the invaluable contributions of public employees while highlighting the administration’s commitment to digital innovation.
“This occasion is designed to recognize and celebrate the unwavering dedication of our Public Servants, whose efforts are pivotal in achieving effective governance and delivering quality services,” Agoro remarked.
He elaborated that the chosen theme, “Deepening Technology for a Smart and Agile Public Service,” embodies the state’s resolve to integrate technology as a means to enhance transparency, operational efficiency, and citizen involvement.
“It is undeniable that technology is a cornerstone in today’s professional environment,” he observed.
“Adopting these technological advancements is essential to improving service delivery, fostering creativity, and developing a Public Service that is both responsive and forward-thinking,” he added.
Agoro commended Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for spearheading a digital transformation strategy that prioritizes investments in infrastructure and skill development.
“Lagos State has made digital transformation a top priority by channeling resources into digital infrastructure and capacity building, ensuring our Public Service remains competitive on the world stage. This approach has streamlined workflows, enhanced data-driven policy-making, and strengthened engagement with citizens,” he explained.
He underscored the government’s ongoing commitment to nurturing its workforce: “We will persist in providing digital training to Public Servants to keep them adept in an ever-changing technological environment. Additionally, we aim to utilize technology to boost citizen participation in governance and gather essential feedback to refine service delivery.”
Regarding the week-long festivities, Agoro outlined the schedule: “The celebration will kick off on Friday, October 3, with health screenings for civil servants at the Adeyemi-Bero Auditorium, followed by a special Jumat Service at the Alausa Secretariat Mosque. On Saturday, October 4, a Walk-for-Fitness event will take place in Ikeja, succeeded by an interdenominational thanksgiving service at the Chapel of Christ the Light, Alausa, on Sunday, October 5. On Monday, October 6, donations from ministries, private sector entities, and individuals will be distributed to orphanages and charitable institutions, alongside ongoing health screenings for public employees.”
Agoro lauded the commitment of civil servants, describing them as “integral to propelling national progress and tackling the multifaceted challenges facing our country.”
