Lagos Police Crack Down on Illegal Tinted Glass: Strict Enforcement Now Underway!

0

On Thursday, the Lagos State Police Command initiated a crackdown on the illegal use of tinted vehicle windows, enforcing existing regulations governing this matter.

This operation is in strict accordance with current laws and follows directives issued by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun.

The police emphasized that this initiative aims to bolster public security, reduce criminal activities, and ensure adherence to road safety standards.

In a public statement, the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, called on vehicle owners who have not yet secured the required authorization to act promptly.

“Owners of vehicles without the approved Tinted Glass Permit should visit www.possap.gov.ng to register immediately,” she advised.

She further noted, “Those unwilling to obtain the permit must remove the tinted films or replace them with clear, factory-standard glass, as mandated by the Motor Vehicles (Prohibition of Tinted Glass) Act 2004.”

The Command cautioned that any vehicle found with unauthorized tinted windows will be seized, and the owners will face legal prosecution.

While urging compliance, the police spokesperson reminded drivers that this enforcement is part of a broader effort to uphold traffic laws and safety regulations.

“The Command remains vigilant in enforcing all traffic rules. Motorists should always carry valid documentation and cooperate fully during lawful stop-and-search procedures,” she added.

To ensure the enforcement is conducted fairly, Commissioner of Police CP Olohundare Jimoh instructed all officers and their supervisors to maintain professionalism and respect for citizens’ rights throughout the operation.

“Any officer found violating these standards will be disciplined accordingly, and their supervisors will also be held accountable,” CP Jimoh warned.

He reassured Lagos residents that the enforcement is designed to protect law-abiding citizens and enhance overall safety, not to cause unnecessary inconvenience.

Residents were encouraged to cooperate with police officers and report any misconduct through designated complaint channels, including dedicated phone lines and social media platforms.

The Lagos State Police Command expressed gratitude to the public for their continued support and reaffirmed its dedication to creating a safer environment for everyone in the state.
