The Adamawa State Police Command has successfully detained 72 individuals and recovered a significant cache of firearms along with stolen livestock throughout the state.
Among the 15 illegal weapons seized were AK-47 rifles, homemade pistols, and 111 rounds of various live ammunition.
At a press conference held in Yola on Friday, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Morris Dankwambo, revealed that authorities also retrieved seven vehicles and 25 head of cattle, which have since been returned to their lawful owners.
Out of the 72 apprehended suspects, 57 have been formally charged in court, while the remaining 15 are still under investigation for multiple offenses.
CP Dankwambo detailed that the arrests made over the past three months involved a range of crimes, including nine armed robbery cases, seven counts of culpable homicide, 22 incidents of rape and other sexual offenses, 18 theft cases, nine related to the Shilla gang activities, and four abduction cases.
Additionally, two women were arrested during this period on allegations of child abduction and trafficking, involving 13 children who were being transported to Anambra State.
The children were rescued unharmed, and the suspects have been charged accordingly.
The Command also secured the release of five children who had been kidnapped from Maiduguri in Borno State and brought into Adamawa.
CP Dankwambo emphasized that ongoing efforts are being intensified to capture the perpetrators and ensure they face stringent legal consequences.
In a related operation, police officers working alongside local hunters successfully freed Isa Adamu, a 28-year-old from Gurin village in Fufore local government area, who was abducted on August 24, 2025.
The Commissioner expressed gratitude to the residents of Adamawa State for their prompt and reliable information, which has been instrumental in achieving these law enforcement successes during the review period.
