The Pamo University of Medical Sciences (PUMS) has extended automatic job offers to three of its recent graduates, alongside awarding a total of N2.8 million in financial support to 28 graduates from the departments of Medical Laboratory Science, Nursing Science, and Radiography and Radiation Science.
During the joint induction and oath-taking ceremony held in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Friday, Dr. Peter Odili, the pro-chancellor and chairman of the university council, revealed the details of the donation.
This ceremony was a collaborative event organized by the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN), the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN), and the Radiographers Registration Board of Nigeria (RRBN), specifically for graduates from the three aforementioned departments.
Dr. Odili disclosed that each of the 28 beneficiaries-comprising 18 Nursing Science graduates, 7 from Medical Laboratory Science, and 3 from Radiography and Radiation Science-would receive N100,000. Additionally, he announced that three Radiography and Radiation Science graduates have been granted immediate employment at Pamo Teaching Hospital in Port Harcourt.
The former governor of Rivers State reassured the Medical Laboratory Science and Nursing Science graduates that the university’s governing council is committed to facilitating job placements for them.
He encouraged the new graduates to uphold the reputation of PUMS by emulating the exemplary conduct of their predecessors.
“We expect you to represent this institution with honor. The positive reports we continue to receive from your alumni are truly inspiring,” he emphasized.
In his opening remarks, the acting vice chancellor, Professor Smith Jaja, reminded the graduates that the commitments they made during the induction and oath-taking ceremony are lifelong responsibilities they must carry forward.
