Jack Grealish secured a dramatic late winner for Everton, netting his first goal for the club in stoppage time to end Crystal Palace’s impressive 19-match unbeaten streak.
According to ESPN, the Manchester City loanee was initially unaware that the ball had crossed the line after Daniel Muñoz’s clearance deflected off him and into the net. Nevertheless, Grealish eagerly accepted the goal, responding to manager David Moyes’ call for him to be more assertive in front of goal.
Throughout much of the match, Everton struggled to pose a significant attacking threat until Maxence Lacroix’s careless foul conceded a penalty, allowing Iliman Ndiaye to level the score with just 14 minutes remaining.
In the dying moments, when goalkeeper Dean Henderson managed only to parry Beto’s header, Grealish was perfectly positioned to capitalize, using his body to steer the ball home in the third minute of added time.
The visitors, who had started confidently and led through Muñoz’s 37th-minute goal, failed to maintain their clinical edge, missing a prime opportunity to climb to second place in the league standings.
Everton’s resilience was bolstered by goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, who marked his 300th Premier League appearance with several crucial saves, while Palace’s Jean-Philippe Mateta squandered a clear chance to extend their lead when the score was still 1-0.
Under Oliver Glasner, Crystal Palace had only suffered one defeat after leading at halftime in the Premier League-ironically, also against Everton at Goodison Park last September.
Although this match was played at Everton’s new Hill-Dickinson Stadium, the victory felt like a significant milestone, as the home side remain unbeaten at their fresh venue.
