Officers from the Delta State Police Command successfully intercepted a truck bearing registration number 3BGT 18LG, driven by Dennis Uruma, a 52-year-old man from Igalamela Local Government Area in Kogi State. During the operation, a substantial quantity of suspected illegal narcotics was seized.
The vehicle was stopped and searched by the “Eagle Net Special Squad” based in Asaba, under the leadership of SP Danyaya Yunusa. This operation was conducted in close collaboration with the Office of the Executive Assistant to the Delta State Governor on Illicit Drugs and Human Trafficking, resulting in the discovery of the contraband.
Mr. Uruma was taken into custody as authorities continued to inventory and assess the confiscated substances.
In a separate incident on October 3, 2025, the “Rapid Response Squad” (RRS), commanded by CSP Nosa Alex, executed a precision raid on a suspected criminal hideout located near the Basket Market area in Asaba, the state capital, following reliable intelligence reports.
Three individuals-Rabbi Godwin (25), Lucky Nanakumo (20), and David Igwe (19)-were apprehended during the operation.
A search of the premises uncovered a counterfeit Beretta handgun, which was seized as evidence.
Additionally, on October 1, 2025, CSP Edewor Akponegware, the Divisional Police Officer of B Division Asaba, led his surveillance unit in a rapid response to a reported armed robbery near the BONSAAC axis of Asaba. A female victim had been robbed at gunpoint of her mobile phone and other possessions by two male assailants.
Collaborating with local vigilante groups, the police established a strategic perimeter and conducted a thorough search of the surrounding streets.
The coordinated effort yielded results when officers apprehended one suspect, Amara Nwako, a 21-year-old native of Oko, while his accomplice escaped into an unfinished building.
During the search of the area, a homemade firearm was recovered. Initial investigations suggest that the suspect may be linked to the Arobaga secret cult.
Bright Edafe, the spokesperson for the command, confirmed that all detained suspects remain in custody, and efforts are ongoing to locate the fugitive accomplice.
