Alhaji Usman Ododo, the Governor of Kogi State, has urged the people of the state to enhance their cooperation with security agencies by sharing reliable intelligence to help combat the persistent security challenges facing the region.
During a recent visit to Gegu community in Kogi Local Government Area, Governor Ododo took time to engage with residents who gathered to welcome him back from national duties.
He praised the Gegu community for their strong sense of unity, collective responsibility, and dedication to maintaining peace-qualities he identified as essential for effective community policing and the overall safety of Kogi State.
“I commend everyone here for your solidarity, love, and peaceful spirit. It is crucial that our communities stay alert and collaborate closely with security forces to safeguard Kogi,” the Governor remarked.
Governor Ododo encouraged citizens to report any unusual or suspicious behavior promptly, emphasizing that the battle against insecurity demands active involvement from all members of society.
“If you notice anything out of the ordinary, speak up. Intelligence is the backbone of security efforts, and every individual has a part to play. We will not permit criminals to find refuge among us,” he asserted.
He highlighted the importance of continuous intelligence exchange between local communities and security personnel as a key factor in maintaining the progress achieved in the state’s security framework. The Governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring that no criminal element can operate undetected within Kogi.
“We have made remarkable strides in enhancing security, and it is imperative that we sustain this momentum. My administration will keep providing full support to our security agencies to protect lives and property,” he assured the public.
On his visit to Yagba Federal Constituency, an area recently affected by security concerns, Governor Ododo reassured residents that the government is intensifying efforts to improve logistics and coordination to uphold peace and order throughout the state.
He also called on traditional rulers, community leaders, and young people to act as the frontline defenders by offering timely and accurate information that can assist in preventing crimes, apprehending offenders, and ensuring justice is served.
