Union Bank of Nigeria recently hosted its inaugural Stay Recharged Health Walk, a vibrant event underscoring the bank’s dedication to promoting employee health and fostering a sustainable work environment.
Commencing at Stallion Plaza, the bank’s headquarters in Marina, the walk culminated at The Stable, the Bank’s Sports Complex located on Bode Thomas Street, Surulere. Participants energized themselves along a scenic 7.5km route weaving through the bustling streets of Lagos.
The event witnessed enthusiastic involvement from staff across various departments and branches, turning it into a spirited celebration of physical wellness, mental resilience, and collective camaraderie.
Stay Recharged stands as a flagship initiative within Union Bank’s employee value framework, designed to cultivate a workplace culture where well-being, joy, and efficiency thrive harmoniously.
This programme addresses the critical demand for intentional wellness activities that nurture both the physical and psychological health of employees within the corporate setting.
It embodies the bank’s understanding that the foundation of ongoing productivity, employee engagement, and organizational success lies in prioritizing workforce well-being.
Omayuli Wale-Ajayi, the Chief Talent Officer, highlighted the importance of this landmark occasion: “Well-being at Union Bank is integral to our operations, not merely an add-on. Our first Stay Recharged Health Walk exemplifies our pledge to cultivate an environment where our people feel invigorated, valued, and empowered.
Taking care of ourselves strengthens our teams and fortifies the entire institution.”
The Stay Recharged Health Walk also aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, and SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth. This initiative demonstrates Union Bank’s commitment to nurturing a workplace that champions employee health, promotes meaningful and productive employment, and supports sustainable organizational growth.
Through such wellness-focused engagements, Union Bank not only enhances its internal community bonds but also solidifies its standing as a preferred employer in the industry.
Looking ahead, Union Bank is steadfast in its mission to create innovative health-centric programmes that motivate employees toward healthier living habits, fostering enduring development for both individuals and the organization as a whole.
