President Bola Tinubu has officially accepted the resignation of Geoffrey Uche Nnaji from his position as Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology amid accusations of certificate forgery.
It is noteworthy that Nnaji was appointed to this ministerial role by President Tinubu in August 2023.
According to a statement released by the presidential spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, Nnaji tendered his resignation on Tuesday, expressing gratitude to the President for the opportunity to serve the nation.
“Nnaji revealed that he has been subjected to political blackmail by his adversaries,” the statement added.
Onanuga further mentioned that President Tinubu acknowledged Nnaji’s contributions during his tenure and extended his best wishes for his future pursuits.
Reports from LEADERSHIP indicate that the allegations against Nnaji involve the submission of a falsified certificate from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), which was presented during his ministerial screening in August 2023.
