served as the head of science at St Marks School in South London, has been permanently prohibited from teaching following inappropriate conduct with a student, identified as Pupil A. Secret audio recordings captured Pannu making explicit remarks, including complimenting the pupil‘s physique and suggesting a future sexual relationship once she turned 18.

During a private conversation recorded by the student, Pannu is heard saying, “You’re one horny girl, man; f***,” and asking, “You’re not teasing me, I know you want it?” When Pupil A commented on her figure, stating, “I don’t have a big arse,” Pannu replied, “No, but it’s a nice arse.” The dialogue also included Pupil A asking if he would be intimate with her after she turned 18, to which Pannu responded affirmatively, “A few months then later, yeah.” He further remarked that if she attended a different school, the situation might have unfolded differently.

The recordings were anonymously sent to three staff members, prompting Pannu’s suspension and a formal investigation by the school. Pupil A disclosed that their initial interactions were seemingly innocent, involving discussions about travel and university plans. However, she revealed that Pannu was aware their exchanges were inappropriate and warned her to keep the matter secret to avoid ruining his career. The student decided to record the conversations after confiding in a friend who doubted her claims.

In his defense before the Teaching Regulatory Agency, Pannu claimed his concerns about Pupil A’s behavior were misinterpreted as a crush or boundary-pushing. He denied any physical contact, emphasizing that their conversations took place across a desk. Despite this, the panel ruled to impose a permanent ban on his teaching license, with no option for appeal.

Anthem Schools Trust, which oversees St Marks School, stated: “The teacher involved was suspended and dismissed seven years ago once the incident was uncovered. This case dates back to 2018 and occurred under previous leadership. No current students were taught by this individual. St Marks remains dedicated to the welfare and achievement of all its pupils, as reflected in its recent 2024 Ofsted inspection rating of ‘Outstanding’ in every category.”
