The All Progressives Congress (APC) Youth Parliament in the North-East has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to maintain his collaborative relationship with Vice President Kashim Shettima throughout his tenure.
Speaking during the celebrations of Nigeria’s 65th Independence Day in Bauchi, the group emphasized that retaining Shettima as Tinubu’s deputy beyond 2027 would reinforce party cohesion and enhance the APC’s chances of securing electoral victories through to the 2037 presidential elections.
Kabir Garba Kobi, chairman of the Youth Parliament, warned that rumors about sidelining the vice president could pose significant risks to the party’s stability, especially in navigating the challenges of the 2027 polls.
“The North East APC Youth Parliament is concerned that yielding to the distractions from certain political factions could ignite serious difficulties, not only within the subregion but across the entire Northern region,” Kobi stated.
He lauded Vice President Shettima for his steadfast loyalty to President Tinubu, his proactive role in representing Nigeria on international stages, and his commitment to advancing the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Additionally, the parliament praised President Tinubu’s decisive reforms, notably the elimination of the fuel subsidy and the harmonization of exchange rates, describing these measures as pivotal in rescuing the nation’s economy from potential collapse and unlocking funds for developmental initiatives.
“These reforms have fundamentally realigned the economy, paved the way for national stability, and generated the financial capacity to fulfill the hopes of Nigerians,” Kobi affirmed.
