The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has urged all relevant parties to demonstrate unwavering dedication to the effective rollout of the National Single Window (NSW) system, a digital platform designed to streamline Nigeria’s import and export procedures by integrating multiple processes into one seamless interface.
Assistant Comptroller-General (ACG) Mohammed Babandede, the Zonal Coordinator for Zone ‘A’, made this appeal during the National Single Window Stakeholders’ Engagement Forum held in Lagos.
According to a statement released on Friday by Abdullahi Maiwada, the National Public Relations Officer for Customs, the forum was a collaborative effort between the National Single Window Project Secretariat and the Nigeria Customs Service. It brought together representatives from government bodies, trade associations, and the import-export community.
In his keynote address, Babandede stressed that the initiative’s success hinges on collective effort and flexibility among all participants in the trade sector.
“This initiative cannot succeed through government efforts alone. It demands active participation from everyone present here. Embracing change, adopting innovative operational methods, and exercising patience through the challenges of transformation are essential,” he remarked.
“Enhancing the efficiency of our ports will boost their competitiveness, enabling manufacturers and stakeholders to better anticipate outcomes,” he added.
Tola Fakolade, Director of the National Single Window Project and Head of its Secretariat, underscored the significance of the forum as the project approaches the launch of its initial phase.
“With the first phase launch imminent, it is crucial that all key stakeholders fully grasp the project’s scope and understand how it will influence their operations,” Fakolade explained.
