The Nigerian Army has successfully freed two individuals who were abducted during a recent mission in Babanla, located within the Ifelodun local government area of Kwara State.
According to LEADERSHIP, the federal government deployed an entire Army Brigade to the region on Thursday, aiming to eradicate criminal activities entrenched in the extensive forested areas of both Kwara North and South zones.
In a statement released on Saturday, the kwara/” title=”Dramatic Rescue in …: GOC Leads Operation to Save Kidnap Victims … See the Pictorial!”>acting deputy director of Army Public Relations, Lt. Col. Polycarp Okoye, confirmed the liberation of the kidnapped victims.
Okoye explained that the rescue operation was a direct result of an inspection visit by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 2 Division, Major General C.R. Nnebeife.
During the operation, Nnebeife and his team advanced into the Babasango forest through Babanla, where they located and successfully freed the captives.
The rescued individuals were subsequently entrusted to Oba Pius Oluwole, the traditional ruler of Idofin Odo-Ase Ayekale, to ensure their well-being and facilitate their reunion with family members.
“The monarch expressed gratitude to the Army for its prompt response and ongoing commitment to restoring safety in the area,” Okoye noted.
He further emphasized that military forces will maintain heightened patrols and conduct continuous raids throughout Kwara and adjacent states to dismantle criminal networks hiding within the forested regions.
