Silence Is Golden’: Teju Babyface’s Cheating Advice Ignites Fierce Online Debate

0

Popular Nigerian comedian and television presenter Teju Babyface has ignited a fiery online discussion after advising married men against admitting to their wives if they have been unfaithful just once.

In a widely shared clip from his recent podcast released on Friday evening, Teju Babyface argued that a single instance of cheating does not necessarily define a man’s entire character or label him as a habitual “cheater.”

The entertainer warned men not to confess infidelity merely to alleviate their own guilt, cautioning that such revelations could irreparably harm their marriages.

“If you betray your wife or husband, but especially if you’re a man cheating on your wife, don’t disclose it. Never admit it,” he stated emphatically.

“This is one of the most devastating and destructive actions you could take in your life,” Teju Babyface emphasized.

He further claimed that confessing to a spouse after cheating is less about honesty and more about emotional manipulation. He also criticized those who justify confession through religious teachings, suggesting they misunderstand the Bible’s message.

“Many people cite the Bible to back up the need for confession, saying that if we confess and repent, our sins are forgiven. But that forgiveness is between you and God, not between you and another person. Confession is meant for God, not for man. Avoid doing it,” he explained.

“When you confess to your spouse, you’re not being truthful; you’re manipulating. You’re simply trying to unload your guilt onto someone else instead of supporting your partner,” the comedian added.

Teju Babyface’s remarks sparked a spectrum of reactions on social media, with many users condemning him for seemingly endorsing infidelity and secrecy within marriages.

Here are some reactions from social media users:

@RealMissTee: “So, if a man cheats once, it’s just a ‘mistake’? If a woman did the same, she’d be judged forever. Talk about double standards!”

@OluTheTherapist: “Teju Babyface makes a valid point. Confessing without the right context can shatter trust. Sometimes, silence truly is kindness.”

@NairaNii: “Basically, he’s saying ‘cheat a little but keep quiet.’ This generation is doomed.”

@AmakaTalks: “Where is the accountability? If you cheat, take responsibility. Don’t hide behind motivational sayings to escape guilt.”

@BabaNoStress: “Honestly, he’s not wrong. One slip-up shouldn’t define a man. It’s not like he’s cheating repeatedly.” 😎‍♂️
