Elder Omeni Sobotie, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, has firmly declared that there will be no open positions at Aso Rock or the Asaba Government House in the 2027 elections.
He made this statement during a visit from the Ughelli South Political Colonels (USPC), led by Chief John Ewenede, at the APC party secretariat in Asaba. Sobotie warned any political party or individual contemplating a challenge against President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori to rethink their ambitions.
Sobotie praised USPC as a powerful and well-organized group, emphasizing that their operational framework should serve as a blueprint for all local government areas across the state.
The USPC is a coalition of both veteran and newly inducted APC members following the recent merger. This fusion of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and APC in Delta State has effectively revived the 1999 PDP structure, albeit under the APC banner.
He further highlighted that the APC government is a massive force, too substantial for any single individual to overcome, advising those harboring political aspirations to abandon their plans and instead rally behind the party.
“While everyone is entitled to contest in 2027, the APC’s current strength makes it nearly impossible to defeat. We stand united in our mission to secure a second term for both our president and governor. I encourage you to formalize your group, register it, and work diligently to ensure a decisive victory in the upcoming elections,” Sobotie urged.
“All the rights and privileges from the former party remain intact within the new APC. Since the merger on April 28, there has been unanimous acceptance, with the old APC fully embracing the new structure, a unity that continues to this day.”
“Judging by the committed individuals present here, it’s clear that the APC in Ughelli South local government is cohesive, and the USPC stands as a robust and influential faction.”
“Following the merger, anyone considering a challenge against Tinubu or Oborevwori should think twice, as there will be no vacancies at Aso Rock or the Government House in Asaba in 2027.”
