Marking a pivotal achievement in its operational excellence, Dangote’s Okpella Cement Limited has proudly attained the Integrated Management System (IMS) Certification after successfully passing a rigorous audit process.
This prestigious certification underscores the company’s dedication to maintaining superior standards in quality, environmental care, and workplace safety.
The Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) officially awarded the certification to Okpella Cement Limited, acknowledging its unwavering adherence to stringent quality, health, and safety protocols throughout its operations.
“The journey toward IMS certification has revolutionized our management approach, integrating it into a unified system that aligns with international benchmarks for quality, environmental responsibility, and occupational health and safety,” stated Engr. Mohammed Ismaeel, the plant director, during a recent ceremony held in Okpella.
He further expressed, “I extend heartfelt congratulations to everyone involved. This certification is a testament to our collective dedication and hard work. It embodies our vision to emerge as a global frontrunner in cement manufacturing, recognized not only for superior products and services but also for ethical business conduct.”
Engr. Ismaeel highlighted several advantages of the certification, including enhanced global credibility, sustained business operations, minimized waste, improved customer satisfaction, elevated product standards, a strengthened culture of quality, and strict compliance with regulatory mandates.
Emphasizing the significance of the certification, he remarked, “This is not merely a decorative certificate; it represents our genuine commitment to the principles outlined in our quality, environmental, and health management manuals.”
The official certificate was handed over to the company’s management by Anil Rao, Head of Quality Control and IMS Team Lead at Okpella Cement Limited.
Rao explained that a primary goal of the IMS framework is to establish a cohesive management system that guarantees consistent product excellence, environmental sustainability, and safe working environments, while positioning the plant strategically as a respected global leader in cement manufacturing, all in preparation for future ISO certification.
He affirmed that this accomplishment reinforces Okpella Cement Limited’s status as an industry pioneer committed to outstanding performance, sustainable practices, and adherence to international best standards.
Rao detailed that the IMS certification process was meticulously designed to harmonize the company’s operations with three critical international standards: Quality Management System (QMS), Environmental Management System (EMS), and Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS).
The certification journey followed a comprehensive three-stage approach: Capacity Building, Implementation, and Performance Evaluation leading to Certification.
