Lagos APC Chairman’s Cup Begins In October

Delta APC Bans Mobile Phone Use During Crucial Stakeholder Meeting

0

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State is set to hold a significant expanded stakeholder meeting, which has recently taken on a new aspect with the party’s State Executive Committee imposing a ban on mobile phone usage during the event.

For security purposes, attendees will not be permitted to bring their mobile devices into the meeting, scheduled for this Sunday at the Banquet Hall within the Delta State Government House in Asaba.

According to a release from Valentine Onojeghuo, the APC State Publicity Secretary:
“All guests invited must leave their mobile phones inside their vehicles before proceeding to the accreditation point. This measure is strictly for security and must be adhered to without exception.”

Onojeghuo further explained that all invited party leaders will undergo a screening and accreditation process at the Government House entrance before being transported to the meeting location by designated buses.

The statement clarified, “Accreditation for all attendees will be conducted at the Third Gate of the Government House, Asaba.

“Once accredited, participants will be escorted by buses to the Banquet Hall, the official venue for the Stakeholders Meeting.”

Among those expected to attend are key figures such as the state party chairman Elder Omeni Sobotie; former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa; Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Olorogun Festus Keyamo; founding party leader Olorogun O’tega Emerhor; Senators Ede Dafinone, Joel Onowakpo-Thomas, and Ned Nwoko; Hon. Francis Waive, Executive Director of NEXIM Bank; Hon. Stella Okotete, among others.

The meeting will be chaired by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, who currently leads the party in Delta State. This marks the first major stakeholder gathering since Governor Oborevwori and the entire state PDP structure merged with the APC several months ago.

Political observers have linked the recent suspension of certain APC local government chairmen and executive members-particularly from Ughelli North and Ethiope West LGAs-to a tactical move aimed at preventing their attendance. These suspensions are believed to be connected to their allegiance to former Deputy Senate President Senator Ovie Omo-Agege.

Tensions have been simmering between supporters of Omo-Agege and Governor Oborevwori, fueled by concerns that the former 2023 APC gubernatorial candidate may be positioning himself for a 2027 run.

Notably, some prominent figures are expected to boycott the crucial meeting, including Senator Ovie Omo-Agege; APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka; House of Representatives member Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu; NDDC Governing Board Chairman Mr. Chiedu Ebie; former State House of Assembly Speaker Hon. Monday Igbuya; former Deputy Governor Deacon Kingsley Otuaro; and former Deputy Speaker Hon. Friday Osanebi, among others.
