Alloy Agu’s Perspective on the Super Eagles’ Challenge
In a recent discussion with Complete Sports, the 58-year-old former goalkeeper reflected on the team’s journey, expressing gratitude for their safe return to Nigeria following an emergency landing in Angola caused by a damaged aircraft window.
“Above all, we must thank God for ensuring the players’ safe arrival back home,” said the 28-time capped international.
“I can only imagine the anxiety the players felt during that ordeal, but we are grateful that divine intervention guided the plane safely.”
Looking ahead to the match, Agu encouraged the squad to maintain their focus and also to hope for a favorable outcome in the South Africa versus Rwanda game.
“I believe the players are fully driven to secure victory against Benin on Tuesday,” he remarked.
“They are mentally prepared to claim the three points and will be praying that the other match swings in our favor,” he added.
Kickoff is scheduled for 5:00 PM WAT at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, with just 90 minutes remaining to determine whether Nigeria will miss out on consecutive FIFA World Cup appearances.
