The Civil Society Organisations on Community Advancement and Humanitarian Empowerment Initiative (CSCHEI) has urged politicians and key stakeholders to cease actions that divert President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s focus, advocating instead for collaborative efforts to foster national unity and progress.
In a declaration endorsed by its director-general, Kunle Yusuff, the organisation expressed serious concern over the escalating barrage of criticisms and political assaults targeting the President, labeling these as needless distractions that could hinder the administration’s developmental agenda.
Yusuff emphasized that while constructive feedback is vital in a democratic setting, attacks driven by personal agendas and malice only serve to disrupt governance and erode public trust.
He called on “frustrated and impatient politicians” to channel their energy into proposing viable solutions that support President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and enhance the well-being of Nigerians.
“We urge all involved parties to offer actionable recommendations that align with the President’s vision and policies aimed at uplifting citizens’ lives. Politicians should prioritize constructive dialogue and back government programs rather than disseminating false information,” the statement declared.
The organisation appealed to Nigerians to prioritize the nation’s welfare over individual ambitions and to avoid behaviors that could sow discord or tension within the country. CSCHEI highlighted that nation-building depends on unity, collaboration, and sincere communication among citizens, government, and civil society.
Additionally, CSCHEI encouraged Civil Society and Community-Based Organizations to uphold integrity in their advocacy efforts by relying on verified information when interacting with government bodies.
“We advise CSOs and CBOs to conduct thorough fact-finding before making recommendations and to develop advocacy initiatives that tangibly benefit the populace,” the statement emphasized.
CSCHEI also recommended that President Tinubu enhance the monitoring and evaluation frameworks to effectively review the performance of his Cabinet members.
The organisation stressed that such mechanisms should identify ministers or officials neglecting their duties in favor of political ambitions ahead of the 2027 elections.
“Officials who place personal political goals above their ministerial responsibilities must be held accountable and, if warranted, removed from office,” CSCHEI asserted.
Reaffirming its dedication to transparency, accountability, and sound governance, the organisation pledged to continue acting as a conduit between the government and citizens to promote sustainable national development.
“We remain steadfast in collaborating with the government and all stakeholders to advance the President’s Hope Agenda and ensure that the voices of the people are effectively represented,” the statement concluded.
