The Kano State government is set to host the 11th Nutritious Food Fair (NFF), themed “Kano 2025,” scheduled for Thursday, October 16, 2025, at the Meena Event Centre.
Under the banner “Our Food, Our Heritage,” this event aims to bring together prominent figures from Nigeria’s food and nutrition sectors to champion innovation, promote healthy dietary habits, and drive agricultural development.
During a media briefing held at the Audu Bako Secretariat, Hon. Musa Shanono, the Commissioner for Budget and Planning, revealed that HarvestPlus is spearheading the fair in partnership with its international headquarters in Washington, alongside the Federal Ministries of Agriculture and Health, the Kano State government, and the UK-funded Propcom+ Programme.
He emphasized that the fair will serve as a dynamic platform for collaboration, knowledge exchange, and networking among policymakers, agricultural researchers, farmers, and food processors, all dedicated to enhancing Nigeria’s nutrition and food security landscape.
Shanono highlighted that the event anticipates participation from over 100 commercial exhibitors and upwards of 2,000 attendees. The program will feature a variety of activities including exhibitions, expert panel discussions, skill-building workshops, business matchmaking sessions, NutriQuiz contests, and NutriKitchen culinary competitions.
A key moment of the fair will be the official recognition of the Kano State First Lady as the “Smart Mother of the State,” honoring her efforts in raising nutrition awareness among women. She will spearhead initiatives aimed at educating families on nutritious eating habits and improved cooking techniques.
Furthermore, Shanono noted that the fair is designed to encourage the adoption of nutritious diets, generate employment opportunities for young people, and stimulate new business partnerships within Nigeria’s expanding nutritious food sector.
