Malam Zubair Jibril, the emir of Birnin Gwari, has made a heartfelt plea to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging him to solidify the fragile peace achieved in the emirate by expediting vital infrastructure, security, and development initiatives.
Expressing both gratitude and a sense of urgency, Emir Jibril assured potential investors-both domestic and international-that stability and safety have been firmly restored in Birnin Gwari.
He emphasized, “Peace alone is insufficient. We must capitalize on this tranquility swiftly-while it endures.”
While praising President Tinubu’s exceptional leadership demonstrated by his 2022 road visit to the community prior to his election, the emir cautioned that without rapid development efforts, the hard-earned progress could easily unravel.
Among his key requests were the immediate repair of the Funtua-Birnin Gwari and Birnin Gwari-Minna federal highways, the creation of a higher education institution to empower the youth, and the elevation of Jibril Mai Gwari I Memorial Hospital to a Federal Medical Centre status.
Additionally, Emir Jibril stressed the importance of reinstating banking and telecommunications services, which have been inactive since 2021, highlighting their critical role in fostering commerce, social connectivity, and investor trust.
He acknowledged Governor Uba Sani’s efforts in launching development projects such as the planned cattle market and the Bagoma-Gagumi agricultural road but noted that the magnitude of Birnin Gwari’s needs surpasses what the state government can manage alone.
Addressing President Tinubu directly, the emir said, “You have been the courageous protector of Birnin Gwari during our darkest times. Now, we call on you to support us in this phase of reconstruction. Let Birnin Gwari stand as a beacon not only of peace but also of economic growth.”
This appeal follows a significant reduction in violence in Birnin Gwari over the past year, a result of coordinated security efforts by federal and state authorities.
